Support the Work of Sappho Women
Sappho Women is a non-profit organisation (AMKE) based in Skala Eressos, Lesvos. Donations support the ongoing infrastructure that sits behind our programmes, most notably the International Eressos Women’s Festival.
While our public activity is concentrated in September, the work is continuous. Planning, coordination, communication, and local engagement take place throughout the year. Donations provide the stability required to maintain this year-round presence.
How Your Donation Helps
Contributions support practical needs that ensure the organisation remains durable, including:
- planning and coordination work outside the festival period
- Administrative, legal, and insurance costs required to operate as a non-profit.
- Accessibility and safety measures that are not fully covered by programme income.
- Development and delivery of selective, project-based initiatives.
- maintaining organisational capacity between festival editions
Donations are not earmarked for a single activity unless explicitly stated. They are used where they are most needed to keep the organisation functioning responsibly and to maintain continuity rather than operating in a cycle of crisis.
Why donations matter
Festival wristbands cover a significant part of delivery costs, but they do not cover the year-round administrative engine. Donations allow us to:
- smooth financial pressure between festival cycles
- Respond to unexpected costs without compromising core programme elements.
- Undertake funded projects without overextending limited resources.
- Ensure the work remains cumulative and well-managed over the long term.
Transparency and Governance
Sappho Women is a registered non-profit organisation (AMKE) operating under Greek law. We maintain financial oversight and formal reporting obligations. Donors receive confirmation of their contribution, and we remain available to answer questions regarding how funds are utilised or how the organisation operates.
