Sappho Women Awarded Grant for “EmpowerHER” Project

Empowering Women, Building a Stronger Community

Sappho Women is excited to share a new project, “EmpowerHER,” that aims to empower women within the global LBTIQ community, with a particular focus on Lesvos, Greece. The project seeks to create a supportive environment for personal and professional development through connection, practical skill-building, and active participation.

We are extremely grateful that our project will be funded through a grant from EL*C (EuroCentralAsian Lesbian* Community), and is co-funded by the European Union (*).

This investment will allow Sappho Women to:

• Enhance Staff Training and Capabilities: “EmpowerHER” will fund training for our team members in areas such as event planning, project management, and public speaking.
• Deliver Capacity-Building Workshops: The project will feature the “EmpowerHER Workshop Series” that cover topics such as financial literacy, leadership, effective communication, and entrepreneurship. These workshops aim to equip women with practical skills that can be used in their personal and professional lives.
• Networking and Alliance-Building Event: The project will host a Networking and Alliance-Building Event aimed at collaboration and information exchange with NGOs, businesses, and government agencies.
• Launch a Public Awareness Campaign: “EmpowerHER” will include a targeted media campaign sharing success stories, press-releases, and highlights to boost public awareness, engagement and support.

Our vision with the project is to create a lasting impact in the areas of organisational capabilities, network building, financial sustainability, long-term resilience and enduring impact. 

“EmpowerHER” isn’t possible without the invaluable contributions of the LBTIQ community. We are seeking collaboration with local and international LBTIQ community individuals, workshop facilitators, business owners, speakers, trainers, and coaches.
